New York Yankees star Aaron Judge returned to the lineup Thursday afternoon but not without an extra piece of protection.
Judge is already a hitter who wears an elbow and shin guard. But after narrowly avoiding a major injury scare following a hit-by-pitch to his left hand, Judge added an extra layer.
The Yankees captain now added the hand guard to his rotation.

The Yankees have seen what life is like when Judge and fellow star Juan Soto are out of the lineup so it makes sense that he would take an extra measure of caution.
While the Yankees were lucky to have avoided a major injury to Judge's left hand, the Los Angeles Dodgers were not so fortunate. Their own star, Mookie Betts, is on the injured list for roughly 6-8 weeks after he was hit by a pitch on the hand just days prior to Judge.
