The Cubs, Red Sox and Yankees have historically been the most active teams around the trade deadline every season.
Chicago acquired Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees and gave up Gleyber Torres to do it, Boston picked up Nathan Eovaldi just last season and New York, of course, acquired Luke Voit from the Cardinals in 2018.
And all three organizations have already been active this year as they have all added to their clubs in recent weeks.
But don't think these teams are done. They're far from it. So what is the next move for each of these organizations? We'll let you what they're after here.
What are the second moves Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees could make before deadline?
Chicago Cubs: 55-47, tied for first in National League Central
First move: Acquired Derek Holland from Giants on Friday
Second move: Trade for Jarrod Dyson of the Diamondbacks
The Cubs added an important piece in Derek Holland on Friday. They only had one lefty in their bullpen and this helps with their depth, but it also gives them a little bit of insurance just in case a pitcher goes down in the final couple of months during the regular season.
But the Cubs' focus next is undoubtedly adding some kind of bat to the lineup. They have been connected to Jonathan Villar, Nicholas Castellanos and Eric Sogard in trade talks, but Jarrod Dyson just feels like the addition to the club. Chicago has been without a real leadoff hitter all season and Dyson would give them speed at the top and some good defense in left field.
Boston Red Sox: 57-47, third in American League East
First move: Acquired Andrew Cashner from Orioles on July 13
Second move: Trade for Alex Colome of the White Sox
The Red Sox's pitching has been their Achilles' heel all season long as the rotation's ERA has regressed considerably from last year and the bullpen has had issues as well. They already tried to address their rotation by adding Cashner and now the addition of a reliever would be very good.
Alex Colome has started to come up in trade talks in recent days and he makes perfect sense for the Red Sox. He's not a complete flamethrower, but he is a good closer who would give the Red Sox a much-needed arm who immediately slots into the back of their bullpen.
New York Yankees: 66-36, first in American League East
First move: Acquired Edwin Encarnacion from the Mariners in June
Second move: Trade for Marcus Stroman of the Blue Jays
The Yankees didn't really need that much help in their lineup but they got it in the form of Edwin Encarnacion in June. He gives the team a power bat in the middle of the lineup as Giancarlo Stanton's season remains in flux and has barely gotten off the ground.
Now the Yankees have to add a starter especially considering the rotation has been absolutely rocked over the last week. Marcus Stroman will be traded even though there are reports saying the Blue Jays are considering extending him and the Yankees would be a great landing spot. His sinker fits in in Yankee Stadium, he has playoff experience and he's from New York. It's a match made in heaven.
