The Cardinals completed a trade with the Marlins on Friday, acquiring right-hand reliever Steve Cishek in exchange for minor league pitcher Kyle Barraclough .

Cishek struggled early this season, which led to the Marlins sending him down to the minors. He was retrieved in mid-June as a setup man and has pitched 12.2 innings with a 0.71 ERA and 11/4 K/BB ratio, holding batters to a .239 batting average since his return.

The Cardinals will take over the $3 million left over on Cishek's contract with the Marlins this season; he's under club control for the next two years, and eligible for free agency after the 2017 season.

Barraclough, a 2012 seventh-round draft pick, started 2015 in high-Single-A and was moved to Double-A in mid-May. His combined numbers are solid: a 2.27 ERA, 12 saves, a 1.44 WHIP and 11.6 K/9 in 39 2/3 relief innings this year.
