MLB trade rumors 2016: Diamondbacks pushing Braves for Shelby Miller image

Throughout the offseason, we'll be taking a look at the top news and rumors from the Hot Stove League.

RUMOR: The Diamondbacks are still interested in the Braves' Shelby Miller but don't want to give up A.J. Pollock

REPORTED BY: ESPN's Buster Olney

THE DETAILS: Despite saying earlier this week that Pollock is "almost untradeable," the Diamondbacks remain interested in Braves ace Shelby Miller. The Braves are actively trying to trade Miller for a young, talented outfielder with Pollock, Joc Pederson and Jorge Soler as their top targets. Arizona seems to be in win-now mode, but Atlanta will have to ask for something other than Pollock in order for this trade to get done.

LAST SEASON: Miller, in his first season with the Braves, went 6-17 despite posting a 3.02 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 205 1/3 innings. His strikeout rate should rise and the record can be discarded entirely considering Atlanta just didn't score runs. Pollock enjoyed a breakout campaign for the D-backs last season and quickly vaulted himself into the discussion of best outfielders in MLB. The 28-year-old outfielder — Saturday was his birthday — had a .315/.367/.865 slash line with 20 home runs, 76 RBIs and 39 stolen bases. He also had a 7.4 WAR.

OUR TAKE: We smell a three-team trade in the works. The Diamondbacks, Braves and Dodgers all have pieces they want to move and would make sense that they could work together on a deal. Arizona could send young starter Patrick Corbin and an outfield prospect to the Dodgers. Los Angeles would then send Yasiel Puig or Pederson to Atlanta and Miller would head to LA. Each team would get contributors right away and the Dodgers would help grow a shallow farm system.
