After dramatic League Championship Series that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers win in seven games and the Boston Red Sox dispatch the reigning champions they'll now go head-to-head in the World Series.
We turned to the two highly regarded MLB licensed video games — "MLB The Show 18" and "Out of the Park Baseball 19" — for a preview of what to expect.
These games have a proven track record of accurately predicting future events. That's especially the case with the simulation-based "Out of the Park Baseball 19" which already picked this very World Series matchup as the most likely to happen before the postseason began.

"OOTP 19" simmed the World Series 10,000 times and the Red Sox were victorious in 5,567 of them. That is right in line with the betting odds that give the Red Sox the equivalent of a 55 percent chance to win the World Series.
Across the 10,000 series sims Boston hit .260 to LA's .236 but the power edge went to the Dodgers, who also stole over twice as many bases. Both teams' ERAs were close, with the Red Sox only slightly lower than that of the Dodgers.

Both video games essentially agree with the expert oddsmakers. After simming the series nearly 100 times in "MLB The Show 19," Boston came out on top 53 percent to L.A.'s 47 percent. Home field advantage played a major role, with the Red Sox winning nearly 90 percent of the simulations in which they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Fenway Park.
The series evaluations from both video games show the Red Sox have the edge, but only by a razor-thin margin. Boston could have slightly more room for error while Los Angeles may need to turn in some standout performances and outstanding plays in big moments to overcome that advantage.
Mookie Betts leads the way for likely World Series MVP, should the Red Sox prevail. J.D. Martinez and Chris Sale are also in the running.
Justin Turner and Manny Machado represent the Dodgers' best hope should their bats get hot — either one could win MVP in the process.
The PC management game "Out of the Park Baseball 19" is currently on sale for just $10 through the duration of the World Series.
