More legends from the past arrive in 'MLB The Show 16' image

Last year, legends were featured in the MLB The Show video game franchise for the first time. Thirty of them were introduced with each team getting a representative from their past.

The number of legends is about to double with the release of "MLB The Show 16." Though each team will not have a new designated player — some will only have their original one while others three or more — there will eventually be a total of 60 in the game. Twenty-five new legends are available at launch with five more unspecified players coming to the game later. There are two ways in which to utilize the legends.

By turning on the "Allow Legend Free Agents" setting when starting Franchise mode, they enter the free-agent pool and can be signed by any team. As each club starts with only about $10 million in cap space, considerable salary has to be dumped if interested in signing one of them.

The legends have been created based off their peak seasons and that is also reflected in their salary demands. The older they are, the less long-term value they hold. The cleanest pickups can be made for the bullpen considering relievers are only are looking for $10.6 million.

The other place legends are found is in Diamond Dynasty. The team-building mode has cards for the legends that are obtained through Card Packs and the Marketplace.

Here are the 25 legends making their debut in "MLB The Show 16."
