Dodgers' Julio Urías disappoints in MLB debut image

Each night in the 2016 baseball season, we'll run down the top news, facts and highlights from action around Major League Baseball.

Julio Urías struck out the first batter he faced in his major league debut Friday, but everything went down the toilet for him afterward.

The 19-year-old lefty lasted just 2 2/3 innings against the Mets before Los Angeles pulled him and went through five more pitchers during the course of the game.

Urías allowed five hits and three earned runs and had three strikeouts, throwing 81 pitches to 17 batters before he exited the game.

The Mets' Jacob deGrom was stellar in the seven innings he pitched, allowing just one run on three hits while tying a season high with seven strikeouts.

While Los Angeles pitchers struggled, a Dodgers comeback was fueled by a Chase Utley double in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game 5-5.

But it was Curtis Granderson's walkoff solo home run in the bottom of the ninth that sealed the Mets' 6-5 win.

Player of the day

Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays: Donaldson smashed two home runs and drove in five to secure the Jays' 7-5 victory over the Red Sox. He was 4-for-5 on the night, with his solo homer in the first inning giving Toronto the lead and his second homer of the night — a two-run, eighth-inning blast — putting the Jays ahead for good.

Highlight

The Cardinals' Stephen Piscotty blasted a grand slam to left field in the third inning, putting the Cardinals up 5-0 against the Nationals.

Three things to know

— In the past 100 years, no Cubs player has hit more home runs in their first 200 games than Kris Bryant, who clocked his 37th career homer Friday.

— Albert Pujols hit his 570th career home run, passing Rafael Palmeiro for 12th place on MLB's all-time list.

— The Astros became the first team in league history to strike out 15 batters or more in three consecutive games.

What's next

White Sox (27-21) at Royals (24-22), 2:15 p.m. ET — Yordano Ventura (4-3, 4.81 ERA) allowed three runs over six innings in a loss to the White Sox last Sunday. He'll look to rebound as he once again squares off against Carlos Rodon (2-4, 4.47 ERA), who gave up eight hits and two walks in their meeting last Sunday.

Astros (20-28) at Angels (21-26), 10:05 p.m. ET — Dallas Keuchel (2-6, 5.92 ERA) will try to break out of his slump and secure his first win of May. The 2015 AL Cy Young winner has an abysmal 7.58 ERA for this month and appears just a shadow of what he was last season. He will face off against Jered Weaver (4-3, 5.98 ERA), who holds a 2.98 ERA in nine starts against the Astros.
