Each night in the 2016 baseball season, we'll run down the top news, facts and highlights from action around Major League Baseball.

There is no denying that the Mets have one of the strongest rotations in MLB, but one of their best pitchers continued his struggles in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Indians.

Matt Harvey, who is playing in a contract year, fell to 0-3 after serving up five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

MORE: Every MLB team's worst regular-season memory

"Early on, I was able to use pretty much every pitch," Harvey said, via ESPN. "After that, a lot of things fell apart. Nobody is more frustrated than I am now. There's not much else to say."

The Mets (4-6) have been one of the most disappointing teams in MLB so far this season. New York ranks 24th in team hitting and has no one on its roster batting .300.

Guys like Lucas Duda, Travis d'Arnaud, who left Saturday's game with after getting hit by a pitch, and Curtis Granderson need to step up their games if the Mets are going to avenge last season's World Series loss.

Players of the Day:

Bryce Harper and Max Scherzer tag teamed to help the Nationals (9-1) beat the Phillies (5-7) 8-1 on Saturday. Just two days after swatting his 100th home run, Harper went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Scherzer kept Philadelphia at bay by tossing seven innings of one-run baseball. He struck out seven and gave up just five hits.

Highlight:

Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is batting .400 at the plate this season and making big plays in right field.

Three things to know:

— Jake Arrieta has gone 48 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings pitched at home, which is the longest such streak since Ray Herbert (White Sox), completed 54 scoreless home innings between 1962 and 1963. Arrieta tossed eight scoreless innings Saturday in a 6-2 win over the Rockies.

— Orioles outfielder Adam Jones continued to make up for lost time by hitting a 460-foot home run off Colby Lewis in the third inning of Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Rangers. It was the longest home run of Jones' career.

— Mariners ace Felix Hernandez recorded his 2,162nd strikeout in a 3-2 win over the Yankees on Saturday, tying Randy Johnson for most in Mariners history.

What's Next:

Blue Jays (5-7) at Red Sox (6-4) 1:35 p.m. ET — Toronto is off to a disappointing start, but 23-year-old Aaron Sanchez (0-0, 1.38 ERA) is on the mound Sunday after two impressive outings already this season. Boston will send Steven Wright (0-1, 1.35 ERA) to the mound.

Tigers (7-3) at Astros (4-8) 2:10 p.m. ET — The Tigers are somehow third in the American League Central despite having the AL's fourth-best record. Miguel Cabrera got things going Saturday and Nick Castellanos continues to impress. The Astros need to wake up because they won't want to fall too many games back in the tough AL West.
