Revenged is best served cold, but the Mets will have to wait to exact their revenge on Chase Utley after his illegal slide into shortstop Ruben Tejada resulted in a broken right leg.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly has opted to start Howie Kendrick at second base instead and also mentioned there will be a meeting with umpires and baseball officials before the game, presumably in an attempt to head off any attempts at retaliation.

Utley was issued a two-game suspension for the slide that turned out to be a huge momentum shift in Game 2 of the NLDS. Utley appealed the suspension, but MLB hasn't heard the appeal, making him eligible for Game 3.

Mets fans may have been anticipating some sort of revenge on the guy who cost them Game 2 and took one of their middle infielders out, but manager Terry Collins said he has instructed Monday's starting pitcher Matt Harvey not to throw at Utley or anyone in the Dodgers lineup.

“We’re not throwing at anybody,” Terry Collins said via the New York Post. “We’ll figure this out at a later date.”
