MLB has message to teams that carry their postseason champagne celebrations onto the field to spray fans: Put a cork in it.

According to ESPN, there could even be disciplinary action involved.

First, there's the image of players, manager and coaches consuming alcohol on the field (never mind the thought of " watching 35 drunk guys try to get through customs"). But also baseball apparently is trying to keep things kid-friendly, something spraying alcohol into the stands makes difficult.

To reinforce MLB's message, chief communications officer Patrick Courtney told ESPN about league rules that ban alcohol of any kind outside of a team's clubhouse: "Our policy explicitly states that no alcohol is permitted outside of the clubhouse or at any time on the field of play, and that all celebrations involving the use of alcohol must take place within the clubhouse. We have MLB security on-site to enforce our rules. The commissioner determines the appropriate steps if any individuals violate our rules."

Of course, in the heat of the moment, the rules don't stop players or managers from getting positively bubbly, as Mets manager Terry Collins did Wednesday night after beating the Cubs in the NLCS.
