Royals starters Yordano Ventura, Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto have been good in their recent starts as Kansas City looks to move to 2-0 in the ALCS.

How good? Royals manager Ned Yost says the trio is comparable to the Braves' Hall of Famers of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz.

"I saw Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz. All were close," Yost said in a media availability before Saturday's Game 2. "If Glavine pitched a great game. Smoltzy was going to do the exact same thing.

"And then Glavine would go out and do the exact same thing. There was inner competition among the starters to go out and throw a great ballgame because the one before him did."

Coming off two, two-hit outings from Cueto and Volquez, Yost says he expects Ventura to follow suit because of their relationship in the clubhouse.

"You can see that here, Ventura, Volquez, Cueto, they're all close," Yost said. "And when Johnny threw the game he did the other day, I was interested to see what Eddie would do, because they are that close. And Eddie came out and matched him pitch for pitch."

While we understand Yost's fondness of the trio but the Royals starters have quite a ways to go to be in the same conversation of the Braves' Hall of Famers, who have combined for 26 All-Star appearances and seven Cy Young Awards.
