Milwaukee Brewers -127 (vs Cincinnati Reds)
Taylor Jungmann (7-5, 2.66 ERA) vs Raisel Iglesias (3-5, 3.93 ERA)
Even though neither team has much to play for at this point in the season, we like the Brewers at home in this one. In AccuScore game simulations, the Brewers win 60.7 percent of the time, which would justify backing odds up to -152. The -127 line listed, therefore, is good value on this solid home favorite.
Admittedly, the Brewers have not been very good for much of the year, and they just ended a disastrous road trip on a sour note. But returning home will serve as relief, and they should bounce back against a lousy Cincinnati ball club. The Reds have not managed to live up to many people’s expectations this year and are likely looking at another loss tonight.
Arizona Diamondbacks +105 (vs Oakland Athletics)
Chase Anderson (6-5, 4.28 ERA) vs Sonny Gray (12-5, 2.10 ERA)
The Diamondbacks have mustered up a small rally here at season’s end, and are miraculously almost in contention for the playoffs. The teams hitting has been excellent, and a surprisingly good defense has held opponents to low scoring affairs more often than not.
Arizona hitters are in for a challenge tonight, with the Athletics sending Sonny Gray (12-5, 2.10 ERA) to the mound. Gray has been brilliant this season and will be extremely tough to break. Oakland’s relievers, however, are not up to Gray’s standards this year and the Diamondbacks will benefit if they can get to the starter early and often. The game should be close, and likely a low scoring one, so we find the odds of +105 on the Diamondbacks to win valuable.
AccuScore simulations have Arizona winning 52.6 percent of the time while the bookmakers have the price going the other way. The Diamondbacks are playable up to -110.
