AccuScore’s predictions are based on 10,000-plus simulations performed by the company’s computer.  Throughout the baseball season, AccuScore will be stacking up its projections against Las Vegas odds and recommending wagers when value presents itself.

Oakland Athletics +109 (@ Houston Astros)
Lance McCullers Jr. vs Drew Pomeranz

We will be brave and pick the Athletics to surprise the Astros in a game between teams at opposite ends of AL standings. Not many would have guessed the Astros to be on top, but they have been in excellent form, winning seven of their last 10 games. The Athletics, on the other hand, have been abysmal with only one win in their last 11 games. However, things might be different tonight with the Astros starting rookie pitcher Lance McCullers Jr., and Oakland playing with a chip on its shoulder after being swept at home by the White Sox this weekend.

Oakland is not as bad as the current standings indicate, and vice versa with the Astros. In AccuScore simulations, the A’s have a small edge tonight, with a 55.6 percent chance to win, which would put the odds at -125.  Oddsmakers have the wrong team favored, according to our numbers.   Some may be surprised by an Athletics win,  but with these odds the away victory is too compelling to skip.

AccuScore’s year-to-date record on Linemakers: 31-34 (-2.96 units)
