The 2024 Home Run Derby is upon us.

The summer slugfest is set to take place Monday, July 15 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Some of the league's most dangerous power hitters will step to the plate and launch baseballs into space with hopes of taking home the prestigious hardware.

Former Home Run Derby champion Pete Alonso headlines the field, but MLB home run leaders like Gunnar Henderson, Marcell Ozuna and Jose Ramirez are sure to make a push for their first title.

Meet the 2024 Home Run Derby pitchers

David Jauss (Pete Alonso)

Jauss should be a familiar name. The former Mets bench coach also threw to Alonso when he won the Home Run Derby in 2021. Jauss is now in an advisor role for the Washington Nationals.

Scott Wingo (Alec Bohm)

Wingo was Bohm's former coach in the 2016 Coastal Plain League — a wooden bat college summer league.

Wingo pitched to Bohm when he won the Coastal Plain League Home Run Derby. He was also Phillies utilityman Whit Merrifield's teammate at South Carolina in college.

Buck Britton (Gunnar Henderson)

Britton is the manager of the Orioles' Triple-A team, the Norfolk Tides. He managed Henderson during his Double-A days with the Bowie Baysox in 2021 and at Triple-A Norfolk in 2022.

Dino Ebel (Teoscar Hernandez)

Ebel is the third-base coach for the Dodgers. Ebel has plenty of previous experience as a Home Run Derby pitcher, throwing to Albert Pujols, Vladimir Guerrero and Joc Pederson.

Jose Yepez (Marcell Ozuna)

Yepez is one of two bullpen catchers for the Braves. Ozuna selected Yepez because he typically throws to him during batting practice.

"I told Yeppy to not get too excited, just throw it down the middle and I'm going to hit it anywhere," Ozuna told MLB.com.

Junior Betances (Jose Ramirez)

Betances is the hitting coach of the Guardians' Triple-A team, the Columbus Clippers. Ramirez credits Betances for his development in becoming one of MLB's best hitters. Betances also threw to Ramirez in the 2022 Home Run Derby.

James Russell (Bobby Witt Jr.)

Russell is Witt's brother-in-law, who also happened to have a seven-year MLB career as a reliever for the Cubs, Braves and Phillies from 2010-16. He had 334.2 innings pitched and 243 strikeouts in the big leagues, but hopefully he'll take it easy on Witt, a Texas native.
