MLB free agents: Dodgers reportedly target David Price close behind Zack Greinke image

Free-agent right-hander Zack Greinke, who posted an NL-best 1.66 ERA for the Dodgers in 2015, is L.A.'s top pitching target this off-season, but left-hander David Price is a close second, according to CBS Sports.

However, if the Dodgers aren't able to land either of the top two starters on the market — likely at a cost of $200 million or more — then they won't necessarily look at No. 3, generally regarded as either Jordan ZImmermann or Johnny Cueto.

MLB FREE AGENTS: Where will David Price sign?

The fact that L.A. is most interested in Greinke and Price is hardly a surprise, given Greinke's output for the team over the past three-plus seasons and Price's past connections with Dodgers president Andrew Friedman while both were with the Rays.

The top of the rotation isn't the only spot where the Dodgers are aiming high, CBS Sports reported.

They're considering spending big at second base, where they are looking at Daniel Murphy and a return of Chase Utley as a couple of the main options.

Meantime, according to the report, Dave Martinez — the longtime right-hand man of former Rays and current Cubs manager Joe Maddon — arrived in Boca Raton, Fla., late Tuesday to meet with Dodgers brass Wednesday at the MLB general managers meetings. Martinez is the last of the first round of interviewees that also included, among others, Dave Roberts, Darin Erstad, Bud Black, Ron Roenicke, Gabe Kapler, Kirk Gibson and Tim Wallach.
