MLB free agents 2016: Orioles reportedly offer Chris Davis $150 million image

With all the excitement buzzing around MLB on Tuesday, the Orioles reportedly are prepared to make a big splash of their own.

Baltimore has offered free-agent slugger Chris Davis "in the neighborhood of" $150 million to re-sign with the team, according to MASNSports.com. The length of the proposed contract was not reported.

This reported offer is noteworthy considering the six-year, $86.5 million contract Baltimore gave outfielder Adam Jones in 2012 was the largest in franchise history.

Davis, 29, is the best bat on the open market; he belted 47 home runs with 117 RBIs last season. Davis has led the majors in homers in two of the past three seasons.

The Orioles have had good luck bringing back players this offseason. Catcher Matt Wieters accepted his qualifying offer, and set-up man Darren O'Day signed a four-year, $31 million deal to stay with the club.

The Cardinals and Red Sox also have reportedly shown interest in Davis, and there will be no shortage in teams vying for his services if he makes it past the winter meetings unsigned.
