The New York Yankees came out of the Major League Baseball trade deadline having made a few subtle moves to address their biggest needs.
While they didn't add any starting pitching to the rotation, they did add some bullpen arms with swing-and-miss stuff, something the unit desperately needed. They also added Jazz Chisholm, whose impact is already being felt.
And though one MLB analyst wasn't impressed with the Yankees' moves at the deadline, another insider felt they accomplished their goals.
Jim Bowden of The Athletic gave the Yankees an A- grade for their moves at the deadline, especially for their moves with Chisholm and right-hander Mark Leiter Jr.
Whether it will be enough for the Yankees to make a World Series run remains to be seen. The next two months will be vital in showing just what kind of team the Yankees have.
Are they the ones that dominated for the first two months of the season? Or are they ones that held the second-worst record in in the American League from the middle of June on?
Getting Giancarlo Stanton back should provide a boost to the lineup, and it will be interesting to see if they call up Jasson Dominguez at some point.
The return of Clarke Schmidt from a lat injury should also bolster the starting rotation considering he was enjoying a strong season before the injury.
But the Yankees must become more consistent on both sides of the ball if they are going to truly compete as World Series contenders.
