According to 358Baseball, an MLB executive believes that the Texas Rangers should be sellers at the deadline, and need to get rid of a couple starting pitchers. The exec named Nathan Eovaldi as one of the main two, with the best destination for him being his former team, the Boston Red Sox

Eovaldi is having a great year this year, with a 7-4 record, 3.32 ERA, and 104 strikeouts. With the Sox in desperate need of good pitching, a homecoming for Eovaldi could help secure a playoff run for the team.

While Eovaldi’s contract does expire after this year, he has an option for 2025, so if he did want to stay he could. And if he doesn’t, the quick reunion would still be fine since it puts the Sox firmly in the playoff race.

If Boston is smart, they will trade for Eovaldi, and convince him to stay for the next year as well.
