The New York Yankees selected Vanderbilt right-handed pitcher Bryce Cunningham with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
At 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, Cunningham had a career 4.95 ERA in three seasons for the Commodores. In 2024, he went 7-4 with a 4.36 ERA, 96 strikeouts and a 1.22 WHIP in 84.2 innings.
Cunningham also posted a 2.38 ERA in 22.1 innings in the Cape Cod League during the 2023 summer.
Cunningham features a mid-90s fastball that touches 97 mph and goes well with a devastating changeup that dominated the SEC during his three seasons in Nashville.
The 21-year-old was the No. 63 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline with the upside to be a mid-to-upper rotation arm.
The Yankees used the No. 26 overall pick on Alabama right-handed pitcher Ben Hess.
