There's never a dull moment with MLB umpire Angel Hernandez, and he made his presence known early in the first inning of Sunday's game between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays.
As Yankees leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres worked a full count against starter Bowden Francis, it appeared the Blue Jays starting pitcher stepped off the mound in the middle of the pitch. However, Francis continued with his motion and threw a breaking ball above the strike zone.
Despite Torres clearly believing the play was dead when Francis stepped off the rubber for a moment—and the pitch being outside the zone—Hernandez rung up Torres.
Torres was pleading his case and manager Aaron Boone came out to get more information on the situation. After an umpire meeting, Hernandez stuck with the call, and Torres was ruled out.
The pitcher steps off, throws a pitch out of the zone, and somehow Gleyber Torres is rung for the strikeout.

Like we said, never a dull moment with Hernandez behind the plate.
