As Americans everywhere pause Friday to commemorate the 14th anniversary of 9/11 during the Day of Remembrance, Major League Baseball and its teams are offering fans many ways to honor the occasion.

The league has announced that all on-field personnel in Friday’s games will wear caps bearing an American flag patch on the side. Replicas of these commemorative caps will be available for sale, with all proceeds from MLB cap sales earmarked for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Pentagon Memorial and the Flight 93 Memorial.

In addition to a moment of silence before all MLB games Friday, “We Shall Not Forget” silhouetted batter ribbons will be displayed throughout ballparks.

And individual teams will have their individual commemorative moments as well. According to MLB.com, before the Phillies and Cubs game tonight at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, local police and firefighters will carry flags from all 50 states onto the field, accompanied by 50 military personnel.

Even teams that are on the road will be offering fans ways to commemorate the tragic day. Fenway Park, for example, is hosting a blood drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to honor those who died in the 9/11 attacks. The annual Day of Remembrance blood drive has collected almost 10,000 units of blood since 2002.
