The Detroit Tigers continued their resurgence Sunday by waxing the Tampa Bay Rays 9-4 at home. But they lost two of their best players in the process.

Starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann was the first to exit early, when he vacated in the sixth inning to treat what was later called a right groin strain. There was no word on whether the injury will require a stint on the disabled list.

Next to go down was first baseman Miguel Cabrera after he was hit by a pitch just below his left knee in the seventh inning. Cabrera, who was 3 for 3 with a home run in the game, is considered day to day, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Tigers' next game is Monday at Comerica Park when they host the Phillies in the first of a three-game series.
