Royals blue might still be the dominant color when the American League takes the field at the All-Star Game, but it appears the rest of the country is starting to push back against the Kansas City onslaught.
Miguel Cabrera roared past Eric Hosmer to take the lead at first base in the latest AL vote totals, released Monday. With more than 9.3 million votes, Cabrera also zoomed to second in the overall voting behind Royals catcher Salvador Perez (10.2 million).

Even with the Detroit slugger's rally, seven Royals remain in line to start the July 14 game in Cincinnati (Mike Trout in the outfield is the other exception). But other spots held throughout the voting period by Kansas City players also appear to be in jeopardy.
Toronto's Josh Donaldson has closed within 33,000 votes of Mike Moustakas at third base, while Seattle's Nelson Cruz — the original leader at DH — has made up some ground on Kendrys Morales at DH.
The most perplexing result continues to be at second base, where Kansas City's Omar Infante holds a lead of more than 400,000 votes over the Astros' Jose Altuve, despite a .549 OPS that was second-worst among qualifying AL batters entering Monday's games.
