After a long, but mild, winter in New York, the Mets are finally back in action. The offseason did not lack intrigue — the team lost longtime ace Jacob deGrom to the Rangers as a free agent, and that was only the tip of the iceberg.

There are a number of new faces in Queens, with Justin Verlander in to replace deGrom and reuniting with Max Scherzer atop the team's rotation. General manager Billy Eppler also secured the services of ghost fork-throwing Japanese starter Kodai Senga.

The lineup was almost bolstered by the addition of Carlos Correa, but his physical spooked the Mets and he eventually went back to Minnesota.

So fans who tuned in to watch the Mets in 2022 will notice largely the same lineup, but there have been big changes to the pitching staff, including the loss of All-Star closer Edwin Diaz, who is expected to be out for the season after suffering a knee injury in the World Baseball Classic.

The organization's biggest free-agent signing came off the field. Mets legend Keith Hernandez agreed to a new contract with SportsNet New York (SNY), keeping him in the booth for at least a few more years.

Hernandez, Ron Darling and Gary Cohen will once again be the primary voices that narrate the Mets' season — one that comes with World Series-or-bust expectations.

Here is a complete guide to watching the Mets and listening to Gary, Keith and Ron without cable in 2023.

How to watch Mets games without cable

If you have been trying to cut the cord or have done so already, there are quite a few options.

 — The newly rebranded Fubo, formerly known as fuboTV, will carry the Mets' regional sports network, SNY, meaning you can still catch the games if you live in the New York market. The streamer comes with a free trial and allows you to cancel at any time.

— Also for those who live in the New York market, the DirecTV Stream choice plan will cost $99.99 a month but gives you access to all the necessary channels for Mets games.

— If you live outside the Mets' TV market, you can watch games via MLB.tv.  For $129.99 for the season or $24.99 per month, you can catch every game for every team. You can also pick a single-team option for $109.99 a year. Again, this is only if you are outside the Mets' TV market: If you are inside the Mets' market, games will be blacked out. Games will also be blacked out if you live outside the Mets' market, but in the market of teams they are visiting.

— For nationally televised games, there are a few options, with some exceptions: Fubo, SlingTV, and DirecTV Stream all carry ESPN, MLB Network and FS1. YoutubeTV and Hulu + Live TV carry ESPN and FS1, but they do not carry MLB Network in 2023.

You can see the blackout restrictions in your area using MLB's blackout tool

Mets schedule 2023

The majority of Mets games this season will be available on SNY. Fans without access to the RSN won't have to worry much, though, since the team will be on national television quite a bit this season.

Out-of-market (OOM) viewers will be able to watch on MLB Network, ESPN and Fox throughout the first month of the season.
