The Mets and closer Jeurys Familia avoided an arbitration hearing in his first year of eligibility by agreeing Wednesday to a one-year contract, the team announced.

The deal is worth $4.1 million, according to MLB Network, making Familia the team's highest-paid reliever with just one full season of closing experience.

Familia, 26, recorded 43 saves for the NL East champions in 2015 with a 1.85 ERA.

Familia reportedly had filed at $4.8 million and the Mets countered at $3.3 million, pushing the settlement slightly beyond the midpoint toward Familia.

By reaching the settlement, the Mets avoided hearings with all nine of their arbitration-eligible players.
