Max Scherzer saved his best for last this season.

The Nationals right-hander tossed a no-hitter in his final start of 2015, striking out 17 batters in Washington's 2-0 win over the Mets at Citi Field.

The no-hitter was Scherzer's second of the season and baseball's seventh. He's the first pitcher to toss two no-hitters in a season since Nolan Ryan in 1973.

Scherzer had a perfect game through six, but lost it on a throwing error by third baseman Yunel Escobar. Scherzer struck out nine straight batters before Curtis Granderson popped out to end the game.

The righty tossed a no-hitter on June 20 against the Pirates in a game in which he lost a perfect game on a hit-by-pitch with two outs in the ninth.

Scherzer finished with a Game Score of 104, second all time to Kerry Wood's 105 score in 1998. It's the second time this season Scherzer's notched a Game Score of 100 or better
