Rays LHP Matt Moore set to return next week against Indians image

The Rays' pitching staff have suffered a litany of injuries this season, but received good news Tuesday when Matt Moore went through a successful pitching session, and was listed as likely to start next week against the Indians.

It will be Moore's first start since April 7, 2014 when he injured his left elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery.

TRADE RUMORS: Which AL teams are buyers? Sellers?

Moore, 26, allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings Sunday at Triple-A Durham in his third rehab start, but Rays manager Kevin Cash saw enough in Tuesday's pitching session to pencil him in for a start.

With Alex Cobb, Jake Odorizzi and Drew Smyly on the disabled list, and Erasmo Ramirez nursing an injury, Moore's resurgence couldn't have come at a better time for AL East-leading Rays.
