The Miami Marlins have signed starting pitcher Edinson Volquez to a two-year deal, according to multiple reports.
The Miami Herald first reported the contract is worth $22 million, which is quite a bit for a 33-year-old who put up a 5.37 ERA and 139/76 K/BB ratio over 189 1/3 innings for the Kansas City Royals last season.

Volquez's best season came in 2014 with the Pittsburgh Pirates when he went 13-7 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. The right-hander carried that success over into 2015 with the Royals when he posted a 3.55 ERA while helping Kansas City win the World Series.
The Marlins were in desperate need of pitching help after Jose Fernandez's untimely and devastating death in a boating accident.
Miami has a promising young outfield, but it needs more consistency out of the rotation if the club is going to get over the hump.
