Jerry Dipoto's fresh start in Seattle will include a new manager. The Mariners have fired Lloyd McClendon after two seasons, the Seattle Times reports.

McClendon went 163-161 in Seattle and last year led the team to its first winning record since 2009, but the Mariners haven't lived up to expectations since their monster deal for Robinson Cano before last season.

The move was not a surprise, particularly since Dipoto came aboard last week to replace the fired Jack Zduriencik as the Mariners' general manager.

McClendon, 56, has only one winning season in seven years as a big-league manager, including his five years in Pittsburgh from 2001-05.

Tim Bogar, who served as a special assistant to Dipoto in Anaheim earlier this year, is expected to be a candidate to replace McClendon, CBS Sports reports. Bogar served as interim manager of the Rangers at the end of the 2014 season, going 14-8, and previously was a coach for the Red Sox and Rays.
