MLB playoffs 2016: Cubs' Kyle Hendricks leaves Game 2 after getting hit by comebacker image

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks left Saturday's National League Division Series game against the San Francisco Giants in the top of the fourth inning after taking an Angel Pagan line drive off his right arm.

Manager Joe Maddon and a trainer came onto the field to examine Hendricks, and he was deemed unable to continue.

Travis Wood took Hendricks' place and struck out Conor Gillaspie to end the inning. Wood then stepped up and hit a home run in the bottom of the inning. He is just the third Cubs pitcher to hit a postseason home run, joining Kerry Wood (2003 NLCS) and Rick Sutcliffe (1984 NLCS).

Hendricks, who led MLB in ERA this season, had already driven in two runs earlier in the game, becoming the first pitcher with a multi-RBI game in the postseason since Brett Myers drove in three for the Phillies in Game 2 of 2008 NLCS.

The Cubs announced later that the liner that nailed Hendricks resulted in a right forearm issue.
