In search of a new general manager after firing Ruben Amaro Jr. in September, the Phillies have begun conducting interviews from a candidate pool that reportedly includes Kim Ng.

According to CBS Sports, Ng has an upcoming interview and could potentially become the first female GM in MLB history.

The current senior VP of baseball operations with Major League Baseball, Ng is no stranger to being in the mix of a GM search. In 2005, she interviewed with the Dodgers and three years later with the Mariners. She has also had conversations with the Padres and Angels.

Indians executive Ross Atkins, ex-Marlins GM Larry Beinfest, Angels assistant GM Matt Klentak, Royals assistant GM J.J. Piccolo, Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine and possibly ex-Red Sox GM Ben Cherington are among those that will be interviewed for the Phillies GM job, CBS Sports reported.

No matter who lands the gig, he or she will have a tough rebuilding campaign ahead of them as the Phillies traded away their star talent for prospects and finished 2015 at 63-99. The first order of business for the new GM is selecting which of nine free agents to re-sign before deciding on the first pick of the 2016 MLB Draft.
