Would Ken Bone give up fame and notoriety for another Cardinals World Series title?

Of course he would! The man of the hour, a man of principle and thought, Ken Bone told Sporting News he would trade all of this away for another World Series championship.

“We already have 11 (World Championships) but yes. Yes I would,” said Bone.

Bone's use of the word “we” is not by accident. The family relationship with the Cardinals and Cardinals fans runs deep.

Bone's ascent from average joe citizen to Joe the Plumber x10 lifted for takeoff when he asked the final question at Sunday's presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis.

“What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job layoffs?”

With that question and a firm-fitting red sweater to showcase, Bone became an American and Internet phenomenon.

He hit the local and national TV circuits soon after, including an interview on CNN. He also hit the late-night TV scene for an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. He hit the radio scene too.

In a story first revealed on The Ryan Kelley Morning After in St. Louis (considered to be more fair and reputable than most cable news networks), Bone said his red sweater was actually “Plan B.”

Let's face it: Ken Bone in a red sweater just feels right. The stars aligned that night.

Even so, Bone would be willing to trade all of this fame and notoriety for another Cardinals World Series championship.

It isn't just the pursuit of World Series title No. 12, it's a deep appreciation for the Cardinals.

Bone said he wore jersey number 18 in his softball and rec hockey leagues to honor Cardinals hall of famer and broadcaster Mike Shannon.

“He's great,” said Bone.

So is Ken Bone. His humility and team-first mentality grows larger than the legend himself.
