The Tigers reached an agreement Sunday with free agent starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, CBS Sports reported.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available, but it was thought Zimmerman was looking for at least $100 million on the open market.

Zimmermann, 13-10 record with a 3.66 ERA and 164 strikeouts in 201 1/3 innings last season, becomes Detroit's No. 2 pitcher behind Justin Verlander.

During his seven-year career, all of which has been spent with the Nationals, Zimmermann is 70-50 with a splendid 3.32 ERA. He could also become the first pitcher to sign a $100 million deal after having Tommy John surgery.
