A Red Sox beat reporter resigned Friday after questions arose about her relationship with manager John Farrell.
Jessica Moran, who has covered the Red Sox for Comcast SportsNet since 2009, confirmed the resignation in a text to The Boston Globe.

“I have stepped away from Comcast SportsNet as I thought it was in my best personal and professional interest to do so,” Moran wrote in the text. “They have been extremely supportive during my tenure at the network — and with this decision — and I am very appreciative of that.”
The Globe reported that there had been speculation among baseball writers this week at the Red Sox spring training facility in Fort Myers, Fla., about Moran and Farrell, 53, who became Red Sox manager in 2013.
Farrell refused to comment on any possible relationship when contacted by The Globe, but confirmed he has been separated from his longtime wife, Sue, for almost two years.
“I can confirm that we’re in the process of getting a divorce,” Farrell told The Globe. “As you can understand, this is a tough time for my family.”
But when asked about Moran, Farrell told The Globe, “My private life is private.”
The Globe reported Moran was "mute" last week when asked about a possible relationship with Farrell.
