The team announced Thursday that Farrell is in remission after he was diagnosed with stage 1 Non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt lymphoma in August during a hernia surgery. Tests Wednesday confirmed the positive outlook.

Farrell is expected to make a full recovery and, according to the Red Sox, will return as the team's manager in 2016, with interim manager Torey Luvollo going back to his original position as bench coach.
