The domestic violence charge against Mets closer Jeurys Familia was dismissed Thursday after a meeting between a prosecutor and his wife's attorney.

According to NJ.com, Bianca Rivas' lawyer, Cathy Fleming, met with prosecutor Arthur Balsamo before a scheduled hearing in Fort Lee (N.J.) Municipal Court.

Familia was arrested early Halloween morning after a woman who called 911 from his apartment said the pitcher was drunk and "going crazy." A police report said Rivas had scratches on her chest and a bruise on her right cheek.

Balsamo told Newsday last month that Rivas had asked him not to press charges, saying she was not concerned for her safety. Familia and Rivas left the courthouse together Thursday morning without commenting to reporters.

Familia, 27, still could face discipline from Major League Baseball despite the dismissal. MLB handed down lengthy suspensions to Jose Reyes (52 games) and Aroldis Chapman (30 games) last season for domestic violence incidents even though neither case resulted in a conviction. Charges against Reyes were later dismissed, while Chapman was never charged.
