Jered Weaver 'motivates' Angels, Mike Trout makes diving catch image

When he's done with this whole baseball thing, Angels pitcher Jered Weaver might have a career as a motivational speaker.

After giving up four runs to the Tigers in the bottom of the third Tuesday night in Detroit, Weaver vented his frustration in the Angels dugout. One of the key plays in the Tigers' rally was a routine fly ball by Anthony Gose that fell between outfielders Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun for a double.

MLB.com has a short clip of Weaver's motivational moment. The 32-year-old told reporters his outburst wasn't directed at Trout or Calhoun. He just tried to fire up the team.

But the outburst might have been an inspiration to his teammates. An inning later, Trout made a spectacular diving catch to rob James McCann of an extra-base hit and save a run.

Weaver certainly seemed pleased, raising his glove to acknowledge Trout. The Angels went on to win, 8-7. They're five games back of the AL West-leading Astros.
