The 2019 Home Run Derby was the marquee event on Monday night, and boy, it didn't disappoint.
While big-time players like Alex Bregman and Ronald Acuña Jr. were featured in the competition, the real highlight of the night was the semifinal matchup between Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Joc Pederson.
After belting a record 29 dingers in the first round, Vlad Jr. followed it up with another 29 in the semis and nearly had 30, but his last ball fell just short. Pederson stepped in with a tall order and managed to tie Vlad Jr. forcing a 60-second tiebreaker.

The two found themselves tied yet again at 37 homers after the 60-second tiebreaker, so they went to a three-swing tiebreaker. Each slugger managed to hit one home run, so we found ourselves going to another three-swing tiebreaker. Vlad. Jr. wound up advancing to the finals by a score of 40-39 after Pederson's last swing resulted in a foul ball.
As with all things nowadays, Twitter was abuzz during the explosive showdown.
