The 2024 MLB All-Star weekend kicks off on Friday, July 12 with this year's HBCU Swingman Classic.

The event was designed to highlight the storied and ongoing legacy of HBCU baseball programs. This year marks the second iteration of the now-annual event, which debuted at the 2023 All-Star weekend in Seattle.

Fifty current HBCU student-athletes will compete on a national stage. They will also have the opportunity to learn directly from established MLB players and coaches; Ken Griffey Sr., Lloyd McClendon, Andre Dawson, and Jerry Manuel are among those slated to be on the coaching staffs for the respective teams.

Sixteen Division I HBCUs will be represented at the event.
