After a day off to lick their wounds following a Game 1 blowout, the Tigers will have plenty of confidence entering Game 2 against the Guardians with their ace on the mound.

A.J. Hinch started reliever Tyler Holton in the opening game of the AL Division Series and it blew up in his face, as the lefty failed to record an out and Cleveland raced to a 5-0 lead in the first inning on the way to a 7-0 win.

A repeat of that scenario is highly unlikely as Detroit sends Tarik Skubal to the hill Monday. The likely AL Cy Young winner has been brilliant lately, not allowing a run in his final regular-season start against the Rays or his postseason debut against the Astros.

Cleveland will counter with a starter Detroit knows well, veteran lefty Matthew Boyd, who spent most of his career in a Tigers uniform.
