Minor league team holds retirement party for longtime bat dog image

Derek Jeter's farewell tour has nothing on Miss Babe Ruth's retirement party. This is truly the end of an era.

Babe is a bat dog for the minor league Greensboro Grasshoppers — and she's the cutest black labrador retriever you'll ever lay eyes on. She's been fetching bats and balls for the team for nearly a decade, but she's ready to tap into that 401K and settle into her golden years. She will have "worked" 649 consecutive games when she retrieves her last bat on Wednesday.

The team held a ceremony for the ol' doggie on Sunday, where she pulled up in her own dog-mobile wearing an adorable puppy outfit and got plenty of treats.

Who's a good girl? Babe's a good girl! Enjoy your retirement batgirl!
