Joe Panik hit a home run for the Giants on Friday night to give his team a 13-2 lead over the Phillies.

The real story is what happened when a fan went to go chase after Panik's home run ball.

It's clear the fan made a conscious decision to go into the water. He didn't just lose track of where he was. He wanted that home run ball and no one was going to deny him.

There's no ladder where the fan fell in, so he had to swim a while in order to get to safety. He was thrown a life preserver to help with his efforts.
