The San Francisco Giants are hanging around in the National League Wild Card race, sitting 3 1/2 games back of the Atlanta Braves, who hold the third and final spot.

At 65-63, the Giants hopes are still alive, but they'll want to make sure and field a competitive team for 2025 as well.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com made a list of the Top 10 upcoming free agents and listed San Francisco as a possible fit for shortstop Willy Adames.

"Coming off another strong offensive season, Adames will be the top shortstop available this winter," Feinsand wrote. "Although his defensive metrics haven't been as strong in 2024, he remains a solid fielder."

Adames would be a good fit for the Giants. They may ultimately lose third baseman Matt Chapman in free agency, and they'll need to replace him with a strong offensive presence if he walks.

Adames could be the perfect fit at the shortstop position and adding him would allow San Francisco to shift Tyler Fitzgerald to second or third base.

They proved their desire to win this past offseason with the signings of Chapman, Jorge Soler, and Blake Snell. They may fall short this season, but they would do well to remain hungry and keep trying to find ways to win.

The 28-year-old shortstop is hitting .252 with 22 home runs, 85 RBI, and a .784 OPS this season. He would give the Giants a major boost offensively.

It will be interesting to see how Adames' market develops this winter and if the Giants will ultimately be one of the teams interested in him.
