It’s an even-numbered year, so you know what that means for the Giants.

Seriously, though, the Giants won the World Series in 2010, 2012 and 2014 and, thanks to a high-spending offseason, they are in a position to win it all again in 2016.

One of the team's offseason acquisitions, Denard Span, started a string of three home runs in consecutive at-bats Monday as the Giants toppled the Brewers 12-3 on opening day.

With two men on and two out in the eighth inning, Span crushed a 3-2 fastball off Brewers pitcher Ariel Pena to begin the sequence. Joe Panik and 2012 National League MVP Buster Posey followed with solo shots off Pena to give the Giants a nine-run lead at Miller Park.

It's the first time a Giants trio has hit back-to-back-to-back home runs since Barry Bonds, Ray Durham and Pedro Feliz did so on July 20, 2006.
