New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is dealing with a mild hamstring injury that could keep him on the shelf for at least a month.
Stanton exited Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves due to a hamstring injury as he was rounding third base on an RBI double from Gleyber Torres.
The 34-year-old underwent imaging the following day, and the results revealed a mild hamstring injury. Stanton told the media that he expects to be out for at least four weeks. He got a PRP injection during Sunday's game.
Before the results of the imaging came back, the Yankees placed Stanton on the 10-day injured list. They called up Oswald Peraza as a corresponding move but wound up trading for J.D. Davis hours later.
How long Stanton actually will be out remains to be seen. Hamstring injuries can be tricky, and Stanton doesn't provide much confidence when it comes to his injury history.
Stanton was enjoying a revival season before this injury. In 69 games this season, Stanton has 18 home runs with 48 RBI and a .794 OPS. His 94.3 average exit velocity ranked in the 98th percentile while his 80.7 mph bat speed and 19.4% barrel rate both ranked in the 100th percentile.
