Giancarlo Stanton already had a chance to make a big impression on Yankees fans this season as he came up to the plate with runners on the corners and one out with New York down 5-2 to the Orioles in the bottom of the ninth inning.
He just didn't do anything with it and struck out — like he did a career-high 211 times last season.

Yankees fans weren't happy and they booed him off the field to "thank" him for his efforts. New York ultimately lost 5-3.
Did I hear that right? Giancarlo Stanton getting booed in the second game of the season?

Oh no Stanton is being booed off the field in the Bronx after striking out as the tying run.

Stanton had a somewhat disappointing first season in New York as he saw his numbers drop across the board after he won the National League MVP in 2017, though he was still worth 4.0 bWAR.
But this year he said he had put 2018 behind him and was ready to start to succeed in the American League. He went 1 for 3 Saturday with two walks, but that did little to placate the Bronx boo-birds.
