New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole will be back on the mound Sunday after dealing with general body fatigue.
Cole skipped his most recent start Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies due to fatigue, which led to Will Warren making his Major League Baseball debut in the team's 7-6 win.
Cole told reporters Friday following a bullpen session that he will make his next start Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
After missing most of the first half of the season until the middle of June due to a nerve issue in his elbow, it was a bit of a concern that Cole needed to push his start back this week.
However, those concerns were alleviated somewhat when he revealed it had nothing to do with the elbow and more to do with his general recovery from his most recent start.
The Yankees enter this three-game weekend series against the Blue Jays riding a five-game winning streak, which included a surprise road sweep against the Phillies.
In seven starts this season, Cole is 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA across 35 innings pitched.
