ESPN announced Wednesday it had fired MLB analyst Curt Schilling over his controversial comments about transgender laws in North Carolina and other U.S. states.

“ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated," said ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz in a statement.

The former big league pitcher created a firestorm with his Facebook post about transgender laws. Based on how ESPN reacted to Schilling's latest political statement, I thought he was done at the Worldwide Leader. And now he is.

Schilling joins a long list of ESPN talkers who have been dumped by Bristol due to their controversial opinions, including Bill Simmons, Jason Whitlock and and Keith Olbermann. Possibly waiting in the wings for Schilling is FS1, sister network of conservative Fox News, which is looking for "Opinionists" who can drive debate and discussion.
