The Pasadena (Calif.) Police Department is investigating assault allegations made against Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, according to multiple reports.
TMZ first reported on Tuesday that Bauer's accuser was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order in Los Angeles. The accuser's attorney, Marc Garelick, said it was a result of "a recent assault that took place at the Hands of Mr. Bauer" in which the accuser suffered "severe physical and emotional pain."
"Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible," Garelick told TMZ. "We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr. Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client’s allegations and case seriously."
Lt. Bill Grisafe of the Pasadena Police Department told The Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that officials were investigating allegations made by a woman against Bauer; his accuser claims the event happened on or around May 16. Grisafe said the investigation opened a few weeks ago, but declined to add any other details.
The Times, citing court records, reported a woman filed a restraining order against Bauer at that time. Pasadena police have yet to submit the case to the district attorney's office.
Bauer's attorney, Jon Fetterolf, released a statement in response to TMZ's report, denying any wrongdoing by his client (warning: explicit language used):

Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reported that MLB is aware of the allegations against Bauer and "looking into the matter." The Dodgers released a statement Tuesday night saying the organization immediately contacted MLB upon learning of the allegations, adding that the league will be "handling this matter."
"The Dodgers take any allegations of this nature very seriously, but will have no further comment at this time," the statement read.
Bauer, 30, is a native of North Hollywood, Calif., roughly 21 minutes away from Pasadena, where Bauer currently resides. The 2020 NL Cy Young winner has been one of the best pitchers in MLB this season, accruing an 8-5 record and 2.59 ERA in 17 starts. He leads the National League in innings pitched (107 2/3) and strikeouts (137).
