Dodgers trade rumors: LA on verge of acquiring six players in trades with Braves, Marlins image

The Dodgers reportedly are on the verge of acquiring six players in a pair of swaps with the Braves and Marlins that involve 12 players total and a draft pick.

According to MLB.com, the Dodgers would receive starter Mat Latos and first baseman/outfielder Michael Morse from the Marlins and starting pitcher Alex Wood, relievers Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan and infielder/outfielder Jose Peraza from the Braves. Miami would get minor league pitchers Jeff Brigham, Victor Araujo and Kevin Guzman from Los Angeles. Atlanta would get Cuban infielder Hector Olivera, reliever Paco Rodriguez and minor league pitcher Zach Bird from the Dodgers and a 2016 competitive-balance draft pick (34th overall) from the Marlins.

The Dodgers may be willing to flip some of that newly acquired rotation depth to the Tigers in a trade for ace David Price.

A deal involving Latos and Morse was in play earlier Wednesday before a player's medical history stalled the trade

Wood, a left-hander, has a 3.54 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP and a 90:36 K:BB ratio over 119 1/3 innings. Latos is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts. The duo, if they stay, would aid the Dodgers' rotation, which has used 14 different starting pitchers this year and needs a steady arm behind Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

Morse has struggled this season in Miami with a .214/.277/.314 slash line and just four home runs after a solid 2014 with the Giants (.279/.336/.475, 16 homers, 61 RBIs).

Although Olivera, 30, has been dogged by concerns about his throwing elbow, he has batted .348/.392/.493 in the Dodgers' minor league system since signing a six-year, $62.5 million contract in March. The Braves reportedly offered Olivera a four-year, $40 million contract during the free-agent bidding last winter.

Johnson has a 2.25 ERA with nine saves entering Wednesday's games, while Avilan, 25, owns a 4.57 ERA over 43 1/3 innings.

Peraza is one of the Braves' top position-player prospects. He has stolen 202 bases and compiled a .303 batting average in his five-year minor league career. He was moved from second base to outfield earlier this season at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Rodriguez is recovering from elbow tendinitis this season. He owns a 2.53 ERA over 124 major league appearances.
